THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 15

Welcome back to our journal after a week of living a normal life having Fabian at home.  He’s been really flourishing in his own environment and generally bossing us all around and of course, none of us mind.  We were blessed to have a good number of friends come to an impromptu birthday/homecoming party on Saturday.  Those who had last seen Fabian at his lowest point were stunned by his improvement.  So now he is back ‘inside’ ready to start the next block of chemo – the deadly methotrexate. The pattern is likely to be 4 days in hospital/3 days at home for the next month subject to – well anything.  On Wednesday he underwent the follow up bone marrow aspirate, now that his counts had recovered sufficiently.  This will, in a few days provide the first confirmation of whether he is in remission.  We believe that he deserves to be – no-one deserves cancer, least of all a child.  But years of fighting this disease have made us more pragmatic about the eventual outcome.  The possibility of a BMT is the elephant in the room.  But that thought has just become a whole lot easier to digest upon the news we received that BOTH our girls are confirmed 100% matches! Thank you Jesus!  What a priviledge it may be for one of them, though let us all continue to believe that a transplant will not be required.  Interestingly, the news came just as Oli was about to submit her UCAS application to study medicine – perhaps a sign she is following the right path?

You are so strong and courageous and an inspiration to all of us. We all love you and are praying for you as are many, many people around the world. It is good to know that you have a worldwide family who loves you.

I hope that you enjoy your iPad. It is so easy to use isn’t it?

We love watching Bible stories on YouTube on it and take it out with us sometimes.
