WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 12

Right then.  Still encarcerated in Kingston Hospital following last Thurday’s infection. The Doctor’s have prescribed their way through a gamut of antibiotics, each one not yet managing to stabilise his spiking temperature, and CRP cell markers remain detectable.  A chest Xray and ultrasound haven’t revealed anything insidious such as the odd fungal spot or two. Fabian himself appears to be clinically well and some of his appetite has bounced back.  He is a bit more fussy about the food here which is not quite up to the a la carte choice and gastronomical standards of the Marsden. Obviously the next BMA and stage of chemo is put back until his temperature stabilises and neutrophil count rises (could somebody develop an app that works out the probability of an oncology procedure keeping to schedule?).  I’ll post again once I have confirmation of Fabian’s next move.

    Dear Fabian

We have been meaning to say hello for such a long time… You may not remember or know us. I met you mummy and you at the Above Rubies retreat – we were swimming together. Do you remember that? And then, we saw you again in the summer at John and Alice’s BBQ. My children are Christopher who is 10 and Alicja who is 8. Christopher is currently in St George’s hospital in London where the doctors are trying to find out what has been the cause of his headaches which he has had for the last 7 months. Anyway, I want you to know that we are praying for you every day. You are very brave. We were so impressed with you meeting the royal couple. How did you feel? Were you nervous at all? Were they really really nice? Did they ask you lots of questions? I hope one day soon you can tell us about it in person.

I am hoping that Christopher may be able to come out of the hospital tomorrow. I think he has quite enjoyed it there, as they have tv screens by every bed and he has been watching movies. However, they also have a school there and Chris has been attending two sessions a day when he can. He was sad today because he had an eye test and had to miss drama because of that.

We will keep on reading the news about you. I hope that you feel better very soon.

    With all our love,

    Marta, Alicja and Christopher

Hi Fabian! It’s raining here in Bristol and uncle Dave has gone to Spain this morning for a few days on a work conference. I’m busy trying to unstick a lock on the door into the playroom. Zach’s school shoes have got locked in there and he had to go to school in his brown shoes for a change – he felt quite cool! Algie wishes he was on a dog walk instead of DIY… Lots of love to you this morning, auntie Emma xxx

    Dear Fabian, Mom and Dad,

You don’t know me but I saw your Mom’s post on my Great Nephew’s page. His Name is Riley Mann, a.k.a Stinkymann.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all as you begin this journey. It will be a difficult one but as you will see, there will be all kinds of people from all over the world that will be there to support you.

It looks like you have some very famous friends that have visited you. You look very handsome next to the beautiful new princess. I bet it was exciting to meet her.

Stay strong and brave. My family will be praying for your success and will follow your story. I know in a few short months we will be celebrating your Engraftment Day.

Hi Fabian glad to hear you are at home now! We are visiting Hannah at Oxford Uni where she has just started a new Russian and French course. Emma baked a cake as it is her birthday and we are walking by the river where I used to go dogwalking twenty odd years ago! We will be thinking and praying for you during your next treatment! Hi there little guy

Been praying for you last night, it seems that God wanted me to pray a lot as I don’t feel as if I have had any sleep.

I think of you often and I have asked God to bring you to my mind whenever youn need and extra boost, so I continue to pray and pray for your complete healing.

I also have asked that you are filled and surrounded with the joy of the Lord that surpasses all understanding, so buddy keep smiling.

Pleased you are back home and Matthew and Evie send their love and hugs (Evie used to say “cuggles” ahh bless I wonder how long she will stay cute?!).
